Your Impact
We are a dedicated team focused on creating the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Blue Button 2.0 platform, an extensive Medicare data warehouse to serve Medicare beneficiaries' demographic, enrollment, and claims data in a Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) format. We are responsible for providing data to several Medicare APIs so that those systems can seamlessly exchange data between various healthcare providers, insurers, and patients. You will directly impact the quality of healthcare that over 65 million Medicare enrollees nationwide receive.

This position is 100% remote. Our entire team is remote across the United States, from the West Coast to the East Coast. There will never be a return-to-office, as we have none!
This position's published base salary range is between $110,000 and $130,000 annually, plus generous benefits (e.g., For People pays 100% of Gold-tier employee health insurance premiums) and annual company profit sharing.
Your Opportunities
- Implement new features within the data warehouse using Java, ensuring accuracy and efficient data exchange across the ecosystem of partner APIs
- Ingest healthcare data from source systems into FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) resources and profiles through developing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, checking for data quality and integrity
- Create and maintain data mapping specifications to transform non-FHIR data formats into FHIR-compliant data
- Design and maintain the data warehouse's data model to meet the needs of downstream API systems
- Implement security measures and access controls to protect sensitive healthcare data and comply with healthcare data privacy regulations, such as HIPAA.
- Contribute when needed to cloud infrastructure and DevOps tasks, including scripting for data movement automation
- Maintain documentation of data processes and data flows

- Expert-level Java programming abilities, alongside some familiarity with Python and Bash scripts
- Proficiency in designing and implementing data ingestion and transformation processes
- Strong database design and data modeling skills, with experience creating and maintaining data models in a healthcare context
- A systematic approach to identifying and resolving issues related to data integration, data quality, and performance
- Knowledge of FHIR standards and experience in government / large enterprise environments is a bonus
